FOREST

Latest News

The Forest collective has pledged to use the sale of its current premises as a means to transform the organisation. In late May, the “For Sale” sign over the entrance to the building in Bristo Place was removed and the Forest was told that a buyer was found for the building. The sale is not yet complete, sources say the missives should be finalised soon. Despite this, the Forest is determined to still provide an arts space in Edinburgh that is free and accessible to all.

“Lucid Dreaming Workshop” Wednesday 15/06 5 p.m.

“A lucid dream is a dream in which one is aware that one is dreaming. We will talk about simple techniques that teach you to be aware of what you are dreaming, and ultimately control and manipulate the outcome of your dreams. Lucid dreaming is a tool and can be used in many ways. In order to: overcome long-term, deep-seated fears, anxieties, and phobias; harness the healing power of your uncounsciousnes, awaken creativity or just to have fun exploring outlandish lucid reality.”

Hard Rock Monday
Live Music, DJs, VJs, 11 Kinds of Nachos
June 13th, 8 ‘till late
Motherfuckers, you know it makes sense.

Bon Jovi was slightly off the mark when he said that the weekend comes 7
days too soon. But Hard Rock Monday is coming 2 months early.
Motherfuckers couldn’t wait until August.

Monday 13 June The Forest is proud to unload 11 different nachos upon your
eager outstretched tongue. Alongside the The Forest’s classic dish, we
have some old favourites from last year and some making their first
nervous appearance. Who can forget their first ‘Queso Grande’, or the
prehistoric punch of the ‘Godzilla’? The cafe-clearing ‘Flamin Pendechos’
has been reformulated, so only your bowels will be evacuated this time
round. Sisters may be curious about the ‘Wears the soap’, a saucy sapphic
spread for those who like their tacos hot and yeasty.

For your ears, we propose a meaty helping of Edinburgh’s hottest 2-piece,
Zebra!, sandwiched between the thickest slabs of hard rock that DJs Cyan
Black, The Mortician and SDawg can provide.

Your eyes will not go unrewarded either. Our VJs are putting together a
mind-watering compilation of ocular oddities to complete our onslaught on
your senses.

Motherfuckers, you know it makes sense.

Queer Mutiny PartyWed 8th: 7pm - 1am
Bristo Hall (above The Forest Cafe)

They said it would never happen again. They said the danger had passed. But, as prophesied, Queer Mutiny has risen from the grave to destroy The Forest Cafe. Did I say destroy? I meant fundraise for. I always get those mixed up.

7-9pm: The Queer Mutiny Salon - Food, Activism, Paramilitary Training. All this and much, much less. Come share a truly civilized occasion (police infiltrators welcome, bring cookies).

9-11pm: The Hermitage - Banshee pop
Alex’s Hilarious Enterprises (UnLtd.) - Ukulele lunacy
The Fannies - Dear God my eyes, my eyes, my beautiful eyes

11-1am: Frenzied Dancing

BYOB + Corkage

Are you excited? We’re on the verge of losing bladder control. Request music on the website.

Weekly Meditation Workshop at the Forest5.30 - 7pm, Tuesdays
A free workshop, always open to all!

Yoga-Nidra means yogic sleep, its a dynamic state of conscious deep relaxation for balansing body, mind and spirit. During meditation the practitioner follows guided instructions of the teacher to experience the full effect of relaxation.

In Yoga-Nidra there are two main futures, deep relaxation-Nidra and on the other side positive intention-Sankalpa, a vital part of the meditation. This combination can change all your life around! When your rational mind is less active during the meditation your subconsciousness becomes more opened. That develops ideal ground for planting the seeds of your intention.

When the practitioner goes deeper into meditative state he is able to work more effectively with tensions, anxiety, sleeping problems, headaches, addictions, bad habits and able to relieve negative energy blocks. It also helps to increase motivation an develop deeper inner awarness, which results in more relaxed and balanced mind.
