The Line Up
Janey & The Ravemen
Playing for the first time in Scotland, The Ravemen are an almost complete resurrection of Hamburg era, R’n’R, Beat legends The Kaisers (with the help of a couple of The Rapiers for good measure.) Expect a gear pre-fab-four riot, all beatle boots, skinny ties and leather waistcoats.
The Thanes
Needing little introduction, The Thanes have now been performing their own styled Garage Punk mixed with R’n’B, Folk Rock and Psych for nearly 25 years. This year will see their 9th LP released on Dirty Water Records in the autumn. http://www.myspace.com/thethanes
Les BOF!
Probably Scotland’s only French language Garage Beat combo! 60s French classics from the likes of Jacques Dutronc and Ronnie Bird mixed with their own punked up r’n’b originals. Their debut LP on the CopaseDisques label is out in June. http://www.lesbof.fr/
Hidden Masters
Prog-folk psychadelia from Glasgow. Their debut single ‘Nobody Knows We’re Here’ released on State Records last year is well worth a spin. The group contains ex members of The Needles and Bangtwister. http://www.myspace.com/hiddenmasters
The Brutes
Brute by name Brute by nature! Lo-fi, high octane garage punk from ex Grease Monkeys and Bangtwister members. Recently featured on Shindig magazine’s download CD. http://www.myspace.com/theebrutes
The Fnords
A female fronted chaotic garage trash trio with more than a hint of surfing guitar. From Edinburgh and Glasgow and featuring one ex member of the legendry Gussets. http://www.myspace.com/thefnords
Keith Doulgas and The Corps of Discovery
Traditional picked country blues from the master of the green Gretsch Anniversary. http://www.myspace.com/keithdouglas
Thee Phar’I-sees
Trashy garage rockabilly with a Crampsish edge. From Glasgow. http://www.myspace.com/thepharisees
Charles Randolph Rivers’ Slim Rhythm Revue
A one man band typhoon! Rockabilly surf blues occasionally towards the Hasil Adkins end of the spectrum. Formerly one half of Thee Phantom Herd.
Prairie Rose & The Wildwoods
This wonderous innocently voiced, trashy, country trio were recently tipped by The List magazine as ones to watch in 2011. Contains an ex Rohypster. http://www.myspace.com/prairierosethewildwoods
The Leith Links
A metamorphous of former Edinburgh Surf guitar champions Preston Pfanz & The Seaton Sands, now dedicated to the sound of Link Wray and his distorted guitar rumble. http://www.myspace.com/theleithlinks
Disc Jockeys
Recorded music on the phonograph played to you by your hosts Tony 2-Eyes and Big Gus along with the Vintage Violence DJs playing extreme rock’n’roll from the 50s to the 80s plus R’n’B and Soul from The Mike & Tina Turntable Revue.
